PRECIOUS METALS CAUGHT SALES WAVE AT BORSA ISTANBUL

Precious metals caught the sales wave in the first week of the New Year. Fed meeting reports were carefully followed. The upward movement in the US 10-year bond yield also negatively affected precious metals. Trading volumes were an average level at Borsa Istanbul.

Gold had a week that tried to rise. Gold reached its highest level at 1839 usd/oz level at Borsa Istanbul. Despite this, yellow metal could not hold on to this level and closed the week at 1790 usd/oz level. This means that gold lost 1,90% of its value. Gold transaction volume was almost 7.5 MT at Borsa Istanbul. Although the yellow metal tried to recover after closing of Borsa Istanbul session, it could only managed to reach the level of 1796 usd/oz at international markets.

Silver had a harder week than gold. Silver recorded its highest level at 23 usd/oz level at Borsa Istanbul. The closing was at 22,35 usd/oz level, which is the same as the lowest level. Totally 14 MT white metal changed hands at Borsa Istanbul.  Silver also recorded below 23 usd/oz level at international markets.

Borsa Istanbul market is quite at the beginning of the week. There were high premium last week but It is not yet clear what will be the price levels this week.
